The Pearl is a monumental LED installation at the heart of Royal Caribbean International’s Legend of the Seas. Combining architectural scale with immersive digital content, this iconic centerpiece transforms the ship’s central atrium into a dynamic visual environment.
For the third ship in Royal Caribbean’s Icon Class, The Pearl was reimagined as a content-driven experience designed to shift in mood and energy throughout the day. From subtle, atmospheric visuals to vibrant, high-energy animation, the installation brings the space to life and enhances the guest experience.
I began production in March, then traveled to Finland in May to join the Brilliant Work team on-site for the production and installation phase. Working in a shipyard during the construction of one of the world’s largest cruise ships was a unique experience, combining creative production with the technical challenges of a complex, large scale LED environment.
The project brought together design, animation, technology, and engineering to create a striking immersive experience at sea.
